NEW PCSOs will be on the beat in Salisbury.

Jamie Boyland, Tina Roylance, Valerie Brown and Ollie Dury will be based in the city and were given their PCSO powers card by Chief Constable Mike Veale and Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon Angus Macpherson at a ceremony held at Police Headquarters in Devizes.

They have completed a 10-week training course involving classroom theory sessions, practical sessions and getting out and about in the community.

The PCSOs are now looking forward to putting their new found skills to good use as they join stations around the county.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Constable Veale said: "I love days like this because I get to meet some really fantastic people. I remember a very similar day to this when I passed out as a fully fledged police officer at the age of 18 and it was one of the best days of my life.

"I love policing and I love being part of the policing family. If you enjoy yourselves as much as I do, you'll have the best time.

"Wiltshire Police is one of the smallest, but one of the best forces in the country, and I am incredibly proud of the force.

"It is a very difficult job but I wish you all well — I hope you get out and about, talk to the public, listen to them and work with them as effectively as you can."
