The Barons are going under the hammer tomorrow with money raised going towards charity The Trussell Trust.

The Barons’ Auction starts at 6.30pm inside Salisbury Cathedral with a drinks reception in the South Transept of the cathedral, where people will have the opportunity to view the painted medieval men one final time before the bidding starts.

Organisers are hoping each baron will raise more than £2,000.

Entry to the auction is by ticket only. Tickets cost £15 and are available from City Hall Box Office in Salisbury on 01722 434434.

Anyone unable to be there can bid online prior to the auction by completing a proxy bidding form online at thebaronscharter.org.uk/auction.

The Barons’ Charter Trail saw the two-metre Traditional Tribal high sculptures placed all over the city as part of a three-month event helping to mark the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta.

Each baron was decorated by local and regional artists and community groups. The Salisburybased charity The Trussell Trust runs the UK’s largest foodbank network.

Auction catalogues are also available to buy at £5 each.

Organisers expect the auction to finish at around 9.30pm.

For the last week all 25 barons have been on show in a row outside the cathedral.
