A NEW Countrywide Farmers store opened its doors to the public over the weekend with thousands of people turning up to see what was on offer and enjoy the family-friendly events.

The store, which sells country clothing, farming essentials, animal medicines and outdoor equipment, is the 68th Countrywide in the UK and has provided 13 new jobs.

Deputy Mayor of Salisbury, Cllr Derek Brown OBE, cut the ribbon to mark the official opening of the new store at 10am on Saturday at Bourne Retail Park. There were activities and entertainment, such as free face painting, refreshments, a bouncy castle and an animal corner provided by Longdown Mobile Farm which featured Max the miniature donkey, kid goats, piglets, chicks, chickens, ducks, rabbits and guinea pigs.

John Hardman, CEO of Countrywide Farmers, said: "The grand opening of our new Salisbury store was fantastic – with so many people turning up to show their support and take a look at what we had to offer people living in and around the Salisbury area. We’re proud to be able to offer an extensive range of products which help make country life better and look forward to welcoming many new customers to our new store now we’re open.”
