A PHOTOJOURNALIST is calling for volunteers in Salisbury to get involved in a new project focusing on the city's inhabitants.

Laura Dale is looking for models to feature in Faces of Salisbury.

Creating emotive portraits, the series will be a display of the changing faces of the city, exploring the varied ages, races and walks of life that inhabit the city.

Laura said: “I’ve always had a fascination with people’s faces, particularly their eyes. I want this project to be a simple yet beautiful portrayal of the variety of people living in the city.

"The aim is to display an array of portraits that will reflect Salisbury’s culture and society — whatever that may be.

"Having lived in a number of places throughout my life, I can’t help but notice the difference in cultures, and have always wanted to explore Salisbury’s.

"It would be interesting to revisit the project in years to come and see if any patterns emerge or change.”

Laura discovered her love for photography when taking pictures for a travel feature she was writing and later retrained as a photojournalist.

She is looking for as many volunteers as possible of "all ages and walks of life" to take part in the project.

"I wanted it to be about Salisbury and exhibited in Salisbury," said Laura. "It will be an experience for me as well as getting to know more about Salisbury.

"It is honest and natural — seeing what their faces are like and what they say about them. I am keeping everything simple so nothing distracts from it."

Those interested in getting involved in the project will be invited for a 15 to 30 minute photography session in Salisbury’s city centre.

Sessions will take place from November 2 to 7 between 10am to 6pm.

For anyone wanting to volunteer, please contact Laura to arrange a time slot by emailing FacesOfSalisbury@gmail.com or go to facebook.com/FacesOfSalisbury

Any volunteers under 18 need to bring a parent or guardian. Those unable to attend on the dates above are asked to get in touch with Laura to discuss alternatives.

The photographic documentary project will be exhibited at Boston Tea Party from March 28 to April 29. The pictures will also be displayed on social media.
