DISAPPOINTED Phil Muspratt missed out on qualification to the ASA Winter National Championships.
The Salisbury Stingrays' swimmer needed to record certain times in the 50m and 100m freestyle at Stockport Metro Open.
On Saturday, Muspratt produced a time of 53.55 seconds to claim a lowly 18th place in the 100m freestyle, where his best time would have seen him finish in the top five.
The following day, Phil returned to compete in the 50m event where his results drastically improved, despite failing to obtain his required time. Needing to swim 23.60 seconds, Muspratt finished in seventh place with a time of 23.87 seconds, less then 0.3 of a second short.
"After speaking with my coach Jez Birds, although disappointed not to qualify, I'm relatively happy with how I swam. There were positives to take from both swims in terms of execution, as well as things to improve on, but that's part and parcel of it all."
