BARON Button has returned to Salisbury Fire Station.

The baron, which was bought by Amesbury Chippy at the Trussell Trust baron auction for £1,950, has been given to the station on a long-term loan.

It was one of 25 barons that were scattered around the city over the summer as part of the Magna Carta Baron Trail and then snapped up by the highest bidders to raise money for the charity.

The station manager at Salisbury Fire Station Dan Cooke said: “The station is over the moon and really happy.

“We are really grateful to Amesbury Chippy for deciding they wanted to see it back at the station. It is a gift to the community for people to enjoy."

He said the summer was an “excellent” time for the station with the baron trail attracting 3,000 visitors to the station from the local community and wider area to the fire station.

Baron Button will be outside the station but will be brought indoors depending on the weather.

The baron depicts the different jobs carried out by firefighters as well as important fire safety messages.

Simon Jackson, of The Chippy Amesbury, said: "We are quite happy he has gone back to where he belongs at Salisbury Fire Station."
