A MAN has been charged with causing £15,000 worth of damage to Salisbury Law Courts on Sunday.

Edward Beavis entered no plea to the allegation that he threw bricks at the court windows causing them to smash.

Appearing at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday the 33-year-old of Bishopdown Road also pleaded guilty to damaging door handle at Trowbridge Police Station and flushing a code of practice down the toilet.

Prosecutors told the magistrates it was estimated the cost of the damage to the windows was around £15,000 as specialist glass was needed to be fitted by experts.

Beavis pleaded guilty to the two counts of criminal damage last month and was given a £100 fine — written off due to his time in custody.

Addressing the magistrates himself, he told them he was a Christian and the Bible was his code of conduct.

He said: “I am not violent, I might raise my voice but at the end of the day that is why the police code of conduct went down the toilet.”

Beavis was granted unconditional bail over the incident on Sunday
