WILTSHIRE Police's treatment of the public has been rated 'good' by an independent watchdog.
Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) reviewed the force as part of a series of inspections into police effectiveness, efficiency and legitimacy.
It found “the chief constable and chief officer team in Wiltshire Police promoted a culture of professionalism and ethical behaviour” and noted some “innovative approaches to leadership”.
The inspectors said the force had a plan for how staff should interact with the public, and had consulted the public to understand the views of local communities.
Mr Macpherson said the inspection, which included surprise visits to police stations, had been "very thorough"
He was pleased with the inspector's findings.
He said: "Overall, this is an overwhelmingly positive report from HMIC and I think it speaks volumes for the leadership of the force by Chief Constable Mike Veale and his senior team.”
Assistant Chief Constable Mark Cooper said the force was "never complacent" and was working hard to improve its service to the public.
