A FORMER wine bar on Crane Street is set for a spicy transformation when it reopens as an Indian restaurant later this month.

Café Diwali will open on March 21 and replaces Cranes Wine Cafe which closed after three years trading on February 6.

The restaurant owners hope to create a new dining experience by combining Indian street food with craft beer.

Indian born chefs Rasheed and Bartkath say they will bring "the heart of India to our medieval city" with traditional Indian street food.

The pair met in Hyderabad nearly two decades ago and after searching for the right Salisbury restaurant for over a year they feel they have found the perfect venue.

General Manager Thom Belk said: “This is an exciting addition to what is becoming a great place for people to dine out. Rasheed and Barkath’s vision with Café Diwali is ambitious and I’m delighted to be a part of it. We can’t wait to welcome the people of Salisbury on March 21.”

Café Diwali is currently recruiting for part time waiting and kitchen staff, if interested then contact Thom on 07502150588 or email Cafediwali@gmail.com.

More information on the restaurant can be found on their Facebook page.
