PUPILS from two south Wiltshire schools joined youngsters from schools across the county for the annual pilgrimage from Old Sarum to Salisbury Cathedral.

Students from Years five and six at St Martin's Primary School were joined by Whiteparish School for the pilgrimage, which was held in almost perfect weather.

More than 240 pupils from eight schools walked in procession from the ancient hill-top monument, where the original city and cathedral were built to the site of the present Cathedral.

On the journey they had stops to hear about and talk about Christian values.

The procession arrived in the cathedral in time for lunch and then they split into groups for workshops before taking part in the traditional procession into the cathedral itself through the huge West Doors and into the Nave for a service of worship.

Each pupil was presented with an individual pilgrimage passport before leaving later in the afternoon.
