A DOWNTON woman has made it to the first round of semi-finals for this year’s Miss England competition.

Harriet Baldwin, 22, is a fitness and spinning instructor who is trying to break into modelling. She signed up for Miss England to improve her confidence and get experience.

Voting has now started for the heat of semi-finalists that Harriet is in, from which three girls will progress to the next stage. Friends and family are supporting Harriet by voting for her.

Harriet said: “I feel I should win as I would be a good role model. I am a fitness instructor and so would like to promote a healthy image for other girls. I've always wanted to model, but haven’t been able to make it so far, apart from winning a local modelling competition."

“It would be amazing to win and use the title to help people, as Miss England is very big on charitable work and supporting the community”.
