SALISBURY Cathedral Girls Choir has welcomed a new chorister.

Grace Stephens-Spada was promoted to full chorister at Evensong in Salisbury Cathedral on Sunday, June 19.

The 11-year-old joins the Girls Choir as it prepares to celebrate its 25th Anniversary early next month.

An all-round musician, Grace plays the violin and the piano and is a boarder at the Cathedral School. She has become part of Salisbury Cathedral choir unusually late, in Year 6. Often new choristers are promoted at around the age of nine.

As a full chorister, she will be singing in the 2016 Southern Cathedrals Festival taking place in Chichester Cathedral from July 21 to 23.

A celebration of choral music, the festival offers a programme of choral music performed by the choirs of Salisbury Cathedral, Chichester Cathedral and Winchester Cathedral.

The choirs perform separately and together, with the music presented in concerts and or as part of worship.
