SALISBURY City Council are holding the annual Armed Forces Day event today (Sunday) from 11am until 4pm in the Market Place, Salisbury.

The event offers a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community. This year there will be live music throughout the day, street food, static displays, fair rides, fun activities and free workshops.

Live music at the event will be performed by The Spitfire Sisters, a three-part vocal harmony group recreating the vintage sounds of the 30s and 40s and the Salisbury City Band of the Royal British Legion.

For the children there will be a climbing wall, clay soldier workshop, face painting and fair rides. There will also be static displays to get a feel for real army life, with army regiments and recruitment, army vehicles and a display of RAF and spy wireless equipment.

Another Armed Forces community event will be the Sunset Ceremony. The Royal Artillery Band will be performing on Thursday, July 7 at 7.30pm in the Guildhall Square in Salisbury.
