A MAN fled after being confronted during an attempt to steal a sat-nav from a parked car in Salisbury.

The incident happened at about 11.15pm on June 9.

Police say a woman living in St Francis Road disturbed a man who had broken into her vehicle, which was parked outside her house.

She shouted at him and phoned the police, and the man made off from the scene, heading up to the top of St Francis Road, before walking along Oakway Road and Sunnyhill Road.

When she checked the car she discovered that nothing had been stolen but the Sat-Nav had been removed from the glovebox and left on the seat.

The man is described as white, in his mid to late 20s, around 5ft 9ins to 5ft 11ins tall and with short brown hair.

He was slim build and wearing three quarter length light-coloured cargo trousers, dark trainers and a red hooded top.

Earlier that evening a man matching that description was reported to have attempted to enter a property in Castle Road, Salisbury.

He left when challenged by the occupant who saw him try to walk through the back door at around 9.30pm.
