A PLANE crashed in a field near Dinton today with two men on board.
One man was cut free from the wreckage, while the second died at the scene.
It is understood the bright yellow and blue, civilian Yak-52 light aircraft was headed to Boscombe Down.
The ambulance service says there are two male casualties, one with a leg injury.
Two fire crews from Salisbury and one from Wilton attended.
Two air ambulances, a coastguard helicopter and a road ambulance were also on the scene, as well as the police who have cordoned off the area.
Around 10 people were seen examining the wreckage by hand.
A statement from Wilthsire Police said: "Wiltshire Police received a call at 10.50am this morning (8 July 2016) reporting a light aircraft crash on Dinton Airfield.
"It is believed there were two people on board the aircraft.
"Officers, fire and ambulance are currently dealing with the incident at the scene."
It is understood the aircraft took off at 10.15am.
The Air Accident Investigation Branch has launched an investigation into the crash.
