THOUSANDS of people are expected to hoof it down to the Damerham Fair on Saturday or one of the biggest village fairs and horticultural shows in the county.

And for the second year, the Damerham Derby racehorses will be trotting into the arena with their intrepid jockeys to race in the showground.

Organiser Bob Gilbey said: "Ever popular, the fair attracts visitors from far and wide and this year organisers are hoping that summer will have arrived at last and a bit of sunshine will be most welcome.”

A large following of loyal fair fans return year after year for the traditional horticultural show and trade stands, stalls and demonstrations plus duck herding and a bar and barbecue - there is even wheelbarrow racing and a steamship circus.

Ferret racing, a bouncy castle plus a petting zoo and crafts keep the children captivated for the day.

Mr Gilbey added: All in all the Damerham Fair is a fun-packed and entertaining afternoon for all the family - not to be missed!"
