A MODEL of a Vulcan aircraft proved to be the star of the show for enthusiasts in Salisbury.
Salisbury Model Flying Club members were joined by their counterparts from Phoenix Model Flying Club for a recent meeting.
The Vulcan was among a number of different kinds of planes flying at the club meeting.
The model Vulcan was built by Cyril Carr, a member of Phoenix Model Flying Club.
Mr Carr, a former Vulcan pilot who served in the RAF, built the model aircraft from scratch.
It has a wingspan of 10feet and weighs 20lbs, and took about four months to build. The model plane is powered by a 3,000 watt electric-ducted fan.
Now 74, he has been building model planes since he was about five-years-old.
Speaking about his time flying the iconic aircraft, he said: "Everyone likes the Vulcan, I feel very privileged to have been a captain on it.
"It was a very nice plane to fly and very powerful, and capable of flying very high."
Mr Carr was in the RAF for nearly 16 years.
He said the model has been popular with Vulcan fans, adding: "It has been really well received by people who really like it and say it is so much like the real thing."
