ARUNDELLS, the home of the former prime minister Sir Edward Heath, is to host a volunteer open day and two other events throughout September.

Those attending the open day will be able to view the house, meet the team and find out about volunteering opportunities.

The open day will be held on Thursday, September 1, from 11am-4pm.

Located in Salisbury’s idyllic and beautiful Cathedral Close, Arundells is a well known attraction and a popular destination for tourists from around the world.

With its fine ornaments, paintings and pictures of Sir Edward’s many years as a politician on display throughout the property, the building is as much of an art exhibition as it is a stately home.

Other forthcoming events include ‘The Chopin Show’ in which pianist, vocal coach and writer Helen Yorke will narrate the life of the famous French composer. She will describe his childhood, relationships, his travels, and how he achieved his musical success.

Helen will then play some of Chopin’s most famous pieces.

Tickets are £25, including a glass of wine. Limited seats are available.

The third event to be held is an illustrated talk on the life and work of artist John Piper by the art historian and critic Frances Spalding.

The evening will include an opportunity to view the late artist’s work in Arundells’ collection.
