A BURGLAR tried to climb through a first-floor bedroom window to steal a laptop in the early hours of Friday morning.
Police said the occupant awoke at 12.20am to find a man trying to get in through the open window of the house in St Martin's Church Street, Salisbury.
The intruder fled empty-handed when disturbed.
Salisbury police chief Inspector Pete Sparrow said it was a concerning incident and warned people to keep windows locked and make sure valuables were not left on display.
The number of reported burglaries in Salisbury has more than halved in the past five years.
