A 63-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after ringbarking a 40ft tree in Essex Square, Salisbury.
Police were called at about 8.25am yesterday to a report that a man was cutting down a tree belonging to the council, without permission.
Significant damage was caused to the tree as a result, and it is unlikely to survive the damage.
The man from the local area remains in police custody at this time.
