DANCERS strutted their stuff in Salisbury's Market Square.

Chance to Dance on Friday saw local dance groups joining in with the professionals in an evening of entertainment that took in some of the oldest forms of traditional folk dancing through to some of the more modern such as breakdance routines.

The audience were also given a whirlwind world tour as well, with dances from the Wild West with The Mulepackers line dancing team, through to jazz with the Forest School of Dance and contemporary dance with DANCE SIX-O right across the globe to the Far East with a taste of Bollywood Bling by the Desert Divas.

The Lock In dancers gave hourly performances, which provided audiences with a taster of the show they will be performing at Salisbury Arts Centre on November 19.

Free workshops were run alongside the dance performances and this attracted a number of young people to get a feel for breakdancing.

Chance to Dance was sponsored by Salisbury BID and put together by Salisbury Arts Centre as part of Arts in the Square programme.

The next Arts in the Square event is on Friday, October 5 when Films Alfresco will take place in the Market Square between 6.45pm and 11pm.

Three films will be shown on a giant inflatable screen: Fantastic Mr Fox (PG), some archive footage of Salisbury’s historic past and Star Trek Into Darkness (12) at 8.30pm.
