EXPECT hilarious songs and a bit of audience participation in this comical retelling of Frankenstein.

Living Spit duo Howard Coggins and Stu McLoughlin bring Mary Shelley’s Gothic tale to life as you have never seen before.

The pair are no strangers to the city stage, having performed three shows in The Salberg, including Six Wives of Henry VIII and Adolf and Winston.

This production sees them take centre stage in the main house for the first time.

It works well on a larger stage. But Coggins and McLoughlin still manage to bring that intimate, smaller theatre feel to the show.

They talk directly to the audience so you feel a part of it the show, giving you a more personal connection with the characters. You even get to choose which member of the band gets the chance to become the Creatures bride.

What stood out for me were the amazing songs and music from Coggins and McLoughlin and the live band, with side-splitting lyrics you couldn’t help but laugh at.

This is a refreshing take on a classic horror story and even has some unexpected, and quite surreal moments — watch out for the hoedown.

Living Spit have definitely made Frankenstein their own. It is perfect way to laugh away the winter blues.
