TOOL thieves have been raiding vans and businesses in what police suspect is a series of linked crimes.

A Ford Transit van full of work tools was stolen from outside a property in Petersfinger on October 16 and later found burnt out in Alderbury.

Burglars broke into a unit at the Salisbury and District Angling Association in New Bottom Road, Salisbury between 7am on 16 October and 7am the next day and took tools including a Stihl strimmer and a hedge cutter.

And a container at a building site in Clarendon Place, Southampton Road, was raided between 6pm on 14 October and 7.30am on 17 October.

Several items were stolen including a petrol pressure washer, a heavy duty plate compactor, a petrol disc cutter and several cans of fuel.

Police have released CCTV images of three suspects.

PCSO Tina Roylance said: “Whilst we are keeping an open mind in relation to these incidents, we are exploring the possibility that they may all be linked.

“In total, a large number of tools and equipment have been lost as a result of these incidents, which has no doubt been frustrating and upsetting for the victims.

“I’d like to reassure the local community that we are carrying out a thorough investigation into these incidents and would encourage all residents and businesses to ensure valuables including work tools are removed from vehicles overnight and be mindful of security at your home or business. Burglars like easy opportunities – some simple precautions including external security lighting, security deadlocks on doors and the installation of CCTV could help reduce your risk of falling victim to this type of crime.

“I’d like to appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity in these areas around these times, but specifically overnight between the 16 and 17 October.

“We are particularly keen to speak to the three men pictured in connection with the incidents.”
