A WOMAN had a lucky escape in the early hours of this morning after her car exploded just metres from her bedroom window.

Rea Hobbs was awoken by her neighbours screaming 'fire' just after 4.30am in Porton.

She said: "I stuck my head out of the window because I thought somebody had crashed their car but it turned out to be my car on fire - the flames were so bright and when it exploded, it blew out the windows in the living room.

"My car is parked right at the front and my bedroom was filled with heat, I was petrified.

"I quickly got the dog and went and stood at the back of the garden - I couldn't get out of the front, it was so hot, it was horrifying. My bedroom is half a metre from the front door.

"The car is a complete write-off, luckily it is just the windows in the house which need to be replaced."

Rea who works at the Nisa Local shop in Winterslow Road said the shop's CCTV shows a car pulling up at 4.30am and within four minutes her own car, a Ford Fiesta ST, goes up in flames.

It is understood around 15 cars belonging to business in Amesbury, Durrington and Salisbury were set alight overnight in a series of arson attacks.
