THE St Thomas’s Church Decorated Christmas Tree Festival is underway with more than 100 trees.

The festival in Salisbury which runs until tomorrow (Sunday) is one of the biggest events of its kind in the country.

It has around 110 decorated trees and nativity scenes.

Last year 14,000 visitors came to see the displays from organisations all around South Wiltshire. There is also a programme of festive music from leading local choirs, soloists and ensembles.

Visitors can also enjoy homemade light meals and seasonal treats from the St Thomas’s festive kitchen.

Entry is free to visit the festival with nominated charities being Rose Gale, Serve On and the St Thomas’s Organ Restoration Appeal.

* A christingle service takes place at the church on December 17, with traditional nine lessons and carols on December 18 and carols for busy people on December 20. Celebrations culminate with midnight mass late evening on December 24 followed by a traditional family service on Christmas Day.
