A MAN was hit and killed after being struck by a train in Salisbury.
Officers were called to a location near Laverstock North Junction in Salisbury just after 6am today following reports that a person had been struck by a train.
Officers from the British Transport Police, Wiltshire Police and the ambulance attended but the man died at the scene.
The train involved was a Yeovil to London Waterloo service.
A spokesman from the British Transport Police said: "The incident is not being treated as suspicious at this time and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
However all lines have since been reopened.
In a statement, South West Trains, said: "Earlier this morning, one of our services struck a person on the railway line between Basingstoke and Salisbury.
"All lines have now reopened, and we're able to run trains normally through the area. Services may remain significantly disrupted for some time as a result of this incident."
"We are sorry for any disruption you may experience this morning."
