FINNISH Composer Saariaho’s Opera is being screened live from the Metropolitan Opera in New York at Salisbury Arts Centre.

Eric Owens is the knight on a quest of love and Susanna Phillips is his lover on the other side of the sea. Conductor Susanna Mälkki makes her Met debut.

The opera tells the story of Jaufré Rudel, Prince of Blaye, who, tired of the life of aristocratic pleasure, yearns for a different, distant love.

The screening on Saturday is at 5.55pm.

On Thursday (December 15) Mustang is screened at the arts centre, 7.30pm.

The film, directed by Turkish-French film director Deniz Gamze Ergüven, is set in a remote Turkish village and depicts the lives of five young orphaned sisters and challenges they face growing up as girls in a conservative society.
