A TEENAGER who raped a woman in her own home has been jailed today.

Kieran Jones, aged 19, of Linden Close, Ludgershall, was convicted by a jury in September.

Prosecutor Rebecca Fairbairn told Winchester Crown Court that Jones had asked the 24-year-old woman for sex after seeing her get changed for bed.

She said no, but he then penetrated her twice with his fingers, before "pouncing on her and raping her" as she screamed for help and tried to push him off. He eventually stopped and the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told him to leave.

Jones then asked friend Wayne Pearce to lie to the police to give him an alibi, and then delete the Facebook conversation between them.

He later admitted perverting the course of justice.

Defending, David Reid said Jones had a history of drug abuse, mental health issues and self-harm.

Judge Keith Cutler said the rape had left the victim feeling vulnerable, afraid and nervous in public.

He said: "You were pestering her for sex and she was saying no. If only you had listened."

In an unrelated incident, Jones was found carrying a knife after threatening to stab a man who had allegedly assaulted his brother.

He admitted making threats to kill and possessing a blade in public. Mr Reid said it was stupid he "would never have followed it through".

Judge Cutler sentenced Jones to a total of four-and-a-half years in a young offenders' institute, of which he will serve half before being released on licence.

He said: "You must be punished by a significant custodial sentence. I can keep that as short as I possibly can. But you didn't help yourself by telling lies to the police."

Jones, who was 18 at the time of the offences in 2015, must sign the sex offenders register for life.
