A SALISBURY charity helping young people in financial hardship has benefited from a cash boost.

The Rose Gale Trust was given £3,800 to support its work with young people from across the Salisbury area.

The donation came from proceeds from St Thomas’s Church Christmas tree festival.

Charity trustee Alison Ayton said: “We are incredibly grateful to St Thomas’s and all those who supported the Christmas tree festival.

"We try to provide small means to make a big difference to the lives of young people.”

The Rose Gale Trust makes small grants of on average under £200 to help young people access opportunities ranging from educational trips abroad, to counselling support.

Trustee Tom Belshaw added: “We see more referrals for help come through each year. Without the backing and kindness of others the Rose Gale Trust would not be able to offer this much needed help to local young people.”

The charity also received a further £175 from the Royal British Legion from donations at their Christmas gig.
