THE “Cupids” of Lover are getting into the spirit of Valentine’s with the launch of the Lover Post.

There are 8,000 limited edition iconic Valentine’s cards on sale and orders can now be placed.

The cards will be sent from the village complete with a message and the special cachet stamp on the envelope that marks the card as “sent from Lover”.

The Lover Post helps raise much-needed funds for the Lover Community Trust — a charity set up to help improve facilities in the village.

Nick Gibbs, the chairman of Lover Community Trust, said: “The Lover Post has given us the opportunity to become “the most romantic village in the World” and create a legacy for future generations to come.

“If you want to show someone how much you love them, then why not send them a card and support village life while doing so. We hope thousands of people enjoy this heart-warming service.”

In less than two months, the villagers raised £85,000 to buy the Old School building, which was lying vacant. It will be used by the volunteer “village Cupids” from February 1 who will be processing all the orders.

Four card designs are available, including the iconic village sign, one designed by the children of the Lover and Redlynch Pre-school and two pop-up gift cards.

The Lover Post is one of many fundraising initiatives the village has embarked upon during what its call this “Year of Love”.

The community has organised a Run Your Heart Out 5k on February 12, which starts and finishes on the Lover Green.

UK orders for the Lover Post close on February 8. To make an order or for more information go to lover.org.uk.
