SIGN up to make a difference to the lives of others by taking part in the 2017 Midnight Walk for Salisbury Hospice Charity.

The 9th annual walk starts on Saturday, May 13 at 10.30pm from Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre.

More than 400 people took part in last year's Midnight Walk raising more than £50,000 which went towards helping the hospice's services such as the 10 bed inpatient unit, the Hospice at Home service and specialist palliative day care in the Peter Gillam centre.

Katie Wilson took part in the 2016 event in memory of her mum who was cared for by the charity and says she did the walk so "others could benefit from the love and care" her mum received at the hospice.

She said: "The care both she and our whole family received was exceptional and the doctors, nurses and volunteers were brilliant. She was very comfortable and the environment meant that she was at peace. We could not have asked for more."

Caroline Scoulding, who also supported the 2016 walk, said: "The reason I support this charity is my way of giving something back for all the help, support and care they gave me and my late husband.

"In a time of grief, sadness, confusion and having absolutely no idea how to deal with every day, the hospice team were there to support and listen.

"When you had days of utter hopelessness, when the fear of not knowing how you could possibly function, there was always someone to listen and help.

"Losing a love one is so hard, but the hospice team made it possible. I will be forever grateful knowing my husband's last days were the best anyone in that situation could hope for."

Participants can chose from two distances — six miles and 10 miles.
