THE White Hart Hotel is up for sale at more than £7.5 million.
The Grade II* listed, four-star, Georgian hotel in St John’s Street was put on the market in October.
Savills is marketing the property which has 68 bedrooms.
The hotel is managed by Mercure Hotels who issued a statement saying “it is business as usual”.
The property is owned by Amaris Hospitality which was created in July 2015.
Earlier this month councillors turned down plans submitted by the hotel to build an extra 28 bedrooms and two new function rooms.
The proposal primarily involved the remodelling of the hotel’s 1970s bedroom wing by infilling the parking undercroft and building a third-storey extension.
While Wiltshire councillors praised the decision to improve the appearance of the current building, they said the proposals were “not good enough”, and the application was refused.
