FORTY tacks were scattered on a cycle path at Petersfinger.
It happened at some point between February 6 and 8.
The tacks were cleared away by a concerned member of the public who alerted police.
Wiltshire Police say this is the sixth incident of this nature since 2014.
A spokesman said: "These tacks could obviously cause injury to people walking in the area and/or damage to bicycles and we ask that those using the pathway are vigilant in case of any further incidents.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PCSO Tina Roylance on 101.
