SEVEN people have been arrested on suspicion of shoplifting.
Police were called to Sports Direct on Churchill Way West at 3pm on February 6.
Security alarms were activated and staff at the store identified the individuals suspected of the shoplifting.
Clothes and perfume worth more than £140 were recovered by staff.
A 40-year-old man and 15-year-old girl were arrested on suspicion of theft and taken to Melksham Police Station.
Police then received further information about an address in Salisbury.
Officers searched the property and recovered a large amount of suspected stolen goods.
Five more arrests were made, both men and women, all aged between 15 and 40-years-old.
They were then taken to Melksham.
The seven suspects have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
PC Rachel Gunn said the operation was a good example of great communication and team work between the staff at Sports Direct and Salisbury's policing teams.
She said: "Without the assistance of the staff from Sports Direct it would have been very difficult for officers to recover the large amount of items that were later located.
"We would like to say thank you to Sports Direct for their help with this.
"We will continue to work local retailers to establish which stores other items were stolen from."
