A TISBURY mother and daughter are lacing up for a 10 hour walk in aid of life-saving charity Wiltshire Air Ambulance Trust (WAA).

Valerie Ridout and her daughter Sophie will be starting their walking challenge in Tisbury and will head to Salisbury.

They will be seeing how far they can get in 10 hours.

Both Sophie and Valerie work at the Nadder Centre Valerie, who is no stranger to fundraising, said: "I am always fundraising but now I work nearly full time I have flamed it down but want to keep doing what I can for WAA as they need every penny.

"I was thinking one day let's do a 10 hour walk, poor Sophie had no choice I volunteered her."

The walk will take place on Sunday, March 19. The pair hope to raise as much as they can for the air ambulance charity.

On their Just Giving Page they said: "Please sponsor us and support Wiltshire Air Ambulance, they do an amazing job and every penny counts.

"If you see us on the day please give us a hoot or a wave or even donate in the buckets."

  • Wiltshire Air Ambulance recently launched a new fundraising appeal to raise the remaining £1.25 million needed to complete its new air base.

Planning permission has been granted for the charity's new Operations Centre on land at Outmarsh Farm, Semington, near Melksham.

The custom-built air base will bring together the helicopter, air crew and charity team on to one site in the centre of Wiltshire.

Building is anticipated to start in the spring. And the new base will allow the helicopter to reach all parts of Wiltshire within 11 minutes.
