A SALISBURY band is celebrating the launch of its new single this weekend.

The Neighbourhood Strange is marking the launch of Let's Get High / One Last Chance with a gig outside the Vinyl Collectors and Sellers shop in Cross Keys Arcade on Friday (March 17).

Frontman Marcus Turner said: "We feel really excited for the new single. It's great to see the end product after all the hard work we put into it. We're hoping for a positive response after the success of the first single last year which got great reviews around the world and BBC 6 Music airplay.

"We're really looking forward to the single launch in our home city. It's especially exciting as we've done all the work off our own backs in true DIY ethic style."

He added: "The new single certainly reflects our love of the 60's garage sounds like The 13th Floor Elevators, The Byrds, The Velvet Underground and Love, and all the obscure garage bands from 60's Nuggets compilations.

"The inspiration for the single came from the love of a simple great sounding melody and our passion for the Rock and Roll ethos."

The band, which was formed in late 2015, is already looking ahead to recording their next single as Marcus explains: "We are recording the next single at the end of March with long term producer Olly Betts from the band, The Duke Spirit."

The band also have gigs planned at the Cavern Club in Liverpool on May 18, The International Pop Overthrow Festival, and a full UK tour which is to be announced.

The launch event runs from 7-9pm. Entry is free.
