A THIEF stole a purse from a woman shopping in a Salisbury supermarket.

The incident happened at around 11.20am on March 9 inside the Aldi store on London Road.

The suspect removed a woman's purse from her handbag which was in her shopping trolley. The purse contained cash and a number of cards.

The man is described as white, around 5ft 4in tall, and of slight build. He is believed to be in his mid-to-late 40s with balding hair.

He was wearing a black leather jacket and dark-coloured trousers.

PC John Bellis said: "The victim left her handbag unattended for no more than 10 seconds, unfortunately this was long enough for the man to steal her purse.

"I would advise everyone to always keep their valuables on their person and out of sight."
