LLOYDS Bank is to close its branches in Tidworth and Mere.

The branch in Station Road, Tidworth will be closing its doors on July 4.

A Lloyds Bank spokesman said: “The Lloyds Bank Tidworth branch will close on 4 July 2017, due to the changing ways customers choose to bank with, which has resulted in customers using it less often.

“We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause and have informed customers of the closest alternative branch, which is Amesbury.”

It says customers will have their accounts realigned to Amesbury and there will be no other impact to the way they manage their accounts.

Lloyds Bank says 76 per cent of personal banking customers already use other branches, such as the Amesbury branch, and that the number of counter transactions made by personal customers using the Tidworth branch decreased last year by 22 per cent.

It also says the branch has 19 regular weekly personal and business.

The branch in Mere will close on September 25.

A Lloyds Bank spokesman added:  “Alongside other ways to access banking locally, we will introduce a new mobile bank branch service which will visit the Mere area.

“This new mobile branch will provide a vital service to the local communities it visits, by giving customers access to everyday banking services such as making deposits, withdrawing cash and paying bills.

“Our mobile branch colleagues will also be on hand to help customers access online banking and answer any general account or product enquiries.

“We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause and have informed customers of the new mobile branch service, which will be operational prior to the branch closing, as well as the closest alternative branch, which is Gillingham, Dorset.”
