TIDWORTH residents enjoyed a cracking weekend of fun to celebrate Easter.

Now in its fifth year Tidworth Town Council hosted an afternoon of events at the community centre on Saturday, April 15, where youngsters enjoyed a range of activities including an Easter egg hunt and hat competition.

The event was well attended with about 200 adults and children coming together.

There was a hive of activity around the craft table and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust were on hand too for some creative activities.

Gemma Annan from the trust said: “The event was well attended and everyone was in good spirits, we made Easter crowns and rooster egg holders; the activities were a big hit, it was nice to see the children enjoying making crafts out of junk that may otherwise end up in the bin, activities like this will help to encourage local residents to reuse and recycle their junk."

Also joining in the fun was the mayor of Tidworth Town Council, Cllr Mark Connolly, who said: "This was the most successful Easter event so far. So many children and families having fun on the Easter egg hunt and then making crowns and animals from recycled materials as well as other craft activities. It is one of several free events the council provides for the community with the Festival in July being the next event."

The council has thanked Reverend Annabel Copeland for participating in the event and Holy Trinity Church for providing the craft materials and Tesco for donating money towards the eggs for the Easter hunt.
