VERWOOD got into the carnival spirit on bank holiday Monday.

Community groups and residents turned out in force for the popular annual event. Live entertainment was provided by The Stunt Riders followed by a display by the Poole Field Gun Display team and music by the Meridian Corps of Drums.

Carnival chairman Adrian Read said: “It went very well. There was a good turn out.”

He says there were a few more entries at this year’s carnival.

He added: “We want to say a big thank you to everyone that participated and help us make it successful.”

The town’s new mayor Cllr Lindsey Dedden said: “The weather was just right – not too hot so people went to beach – and it stayed dry so it was very well attended. It was my first official duty as mayor which was lovely.”
