A TEAM of sixth form students from The Burgate School will be pitting their wits against the top debaters in the country.
The Burgate are one of only 12 teams competing in the Debating Matters National final which is being held on Friday, June 30 at the Museum of London.
Having won both their regional heat and South of England final, Tom Lansdale, Ethan Mann, Miriam Cakebread, Megan Sanger, Rebekah Wild and Olivia Beatson are already seasoned performers. For this competition they have to prepare for four debates.
Lower sixth former Tom said: “I’m looking forward to seeing our hard work pay off.”
Along with Olivia, he is speaking for the motion ‘We should build on the Green Belt’. Other motions cover issues around the sharing of medical data and monuments to controversial historical figures should remain.
