THOUSANDS of people turned out to take on the first-ever Salisbury Bubble Rush on Saturday - raising more than £40,000 for Salisbury Hospice Charity.

The 5k fun run at Hudson's Field had four coloured bubble stations where high-powered foam cannons cover participants from top to toe in bubbles.

There was also children's activities, street theatre and live music.

Salisbury Hospice Charity say the event was an "outstanding success" with 1179 participants taking part. The event has already raised an incredible £43,000 for Salisbury Hospice and the total keeps growing every day.

“The event was full of fun, colour and bubbles. It was truly overwhelming to see so many families having such a lovely time whilst raising money for the Hospice. A final total will be announced once all sponsorship is in, but in the meantime we would like to thank everyone who took part, supported, sponsored and volunteered at this year’s event. We look forward to seeing you all again next year, more details will be announced shortly," said events fundraiser Abigail Blake.

All money raised from the event, will go to Salisbury Hospice Charity. Salisbury Hospice provides vital support to people with life-limiting illness.

Each year the hospice helps 1000 patients and their families with not only nursing care but also emotional and practical support.

It costs £2.3 million each year to run and with less than 50 per cent funding from the NHS, Salisbury Hospice Charity aims to raise £1.5 million of these costs.
