A SALISBURY couple have celebrated their engagement with an out-of-the-ordinary photoshoot at Ikea.

Antony Lyall, 29, and Liz Sankey, 25, who will be tying the knot next month enlisted the help of wedding photographer Nick Rutter to mark the occasion.

"It was mainly our photographers idea as he never shoots in the same place twice and as a joke I said Ikea," said Liz.

"The reason why I said Ikea is me and my partner really like the film 500 Days of Summer and in the main scenes they go to Ikea twice in the film. That's our favourite film so it all fitted in really nicely."

With the nod from Southampton store manager Salma Azad, photographer Nick set to work with the couple creating the iconic magical images.

Speaking of the experience, Liz added: "It was definitely different."

"It was really good. We got a few questions like 'are you going to be in the next Ikea catalogue?' [from shoppers]."

Since the photoshoot the furniture store now has a special place in their hearts.

"We have driven past it a few times and just think of it so differently. It is just a special for us, it's a bit strange," said Liz.

Photographer Nick added: “I do engagement shoots because I love to spend time with my clients to develop rapport, as well as giving them something creative even before their wedding. It also gets them used to the way I shoot. I never shoot the same location twice for the engagement shoot so its unique to them and me and the sky’s the limit for creativity as we can literally go anywhere in the country or abroad for a unique experience.

“A plethora of well-styled backdrops and room sets at Ikea Southampton allowed their relationship to come to life in the colourful imagery created.”

Ikea store manager Salma Azad said: “It’s never happened before, but we were delighted to welcome Anthony and Liz to the store for this unique occasion."
