TWO students from South Wiltshire University Technical College (UTC) have been offered a two-year apprenticeship in engineering at Twinings in Andover.
Lee Dickenson and Sam Waters, 18, are studying Level 3 Extended Diplomas in engineering.
Sam said: “We had to go through a selection process that included interviews, online assessments and team building exercises."
After the two year apprenticeship the pair hope to continue working at Twinings with the opportunity of being funded through a HND/Degree programme in electrical/mechanical engineering.
“I decided not to go to university although I have secured a place,” said Lee. “With this apprenticeship I am earning money and there are lots of opportunities.”
Sam added: “Everyone at Twinings have been very supportive and really nice."
The friends were in the gym when they received the call telling them they had been successful.
Lee said: “We got the call at the same time. We are so pleased and really looking forward to starting at Twinings in September.”
