COLOURFUL characters were out in force for the first Geeks Comic-Con in Salisbury.

The event was held at City Hall on Saturday and featured stalls, interactive games, and prop displays.

Visitors dressed as their favourite comic, television and film characters including Captain America, Wonder Woman, Superman and a whole host of others. They had the chance to enter the cosplay competition and win special prizes.

There were also a whole host of celebrity guests including David Prowse, who starred as Darth Vader in Star Wars, Doctor Who stars Peter Davison and Colin Baker, and Hattie Hayridge of Red Dwarf to name a few.

Organiser Mark Longman said: "We had about 1500 people attend our first Salisbury Comic-Con and generally people seem to have loved the day. We can't praise the city of Salisbury enough and it was good to come to an area which embraced the event as wholeheartedly as they did.

"Our special guests enjoyed their time in the city and meeting all the wonderful people that joined us throughout the day.

"We're really looking forward to our return in 2018."

The event is scheduled to return on May 12, 2018 at City Hall.
