A MAN in his 20s was taken to hospital after an assault in the city centre this afternoon.
An eye witness reported seeing a young man lying unconscious in the street outside the sandwich shop Subway in Winchester Street, Salisbury, bleeding from his head.
Police were called to reports of the incident at about 3.45pm today (Tuesday).
A police spokesman said: "A man in his 20s was injured. A paramedic has been called to the scene and the man is being taken to Salisbury District Hospital.
"We have one male under arrest on suspicion of assault. He will be taken to custody in Melksham."
