YOUNGSTERS in Old Sarum have plenty to do now that a long-awaited community play park has opened.
The facility, provided by Laverstock and Ford Parish Council with developer funding, features equipment chosen by Old Sarum youngsters, together with some hi-tech features including a solar powered DJ mixing desk and a foot-powered electronic games machine.
An opening ceremony was held on Saturday as part of the Old Sarum Fun Day.
The chairman of Laverstock and Ford Parish Council, David Burton, said: “We are delighted to be able to finally open the Old Sarum community play park. It has been a long, hard battle to first secure The Green for our community and the funds from the developer but it has been all worthwhile now we have this wonderful community resource.”
In addition, other new recreational facilities on The Green include a multi-use games area and a Trim Trail for both young residents and adults.
Cllr Burton thanked everyone involved in the project and the young residents who selected the equipment.
