A PENSIONER will be fundraising for a military charity in a cyclathon at Tidworth.
Eric Ayling, 82, will cycle ten hours a day for five consecutive days at the end of September at Tidworth Leisure Centre.
He hopes to raise £2,000 for the armed forces charity Help for Heroes.
Mr Ayling, who lives in Corsham, served in the Royal Air Force during the 1950s, before becoming a boxing and athletics coach after leaving the military.
The veteran said he was proud of his service, and because of his experience understands the difficulties that can arise from being in the Armed-Forces.
He said: “I am doing the challenge to raise money for Help for Heroes, because it is the best place to go for all ex-serviceman.
“I was in the RAF, and I know what they (beneficiaries) are all going through.”
Mr Ayling previously attempted a 40-hour bike ride in September 2016, and started preparing for this year’s cyclathon in January.
The challenge will take place from September 25 to 29 at Tidworth Leisure Centre.
