A WOMAN asking for money to help her get home is "abusing the trust" of visitors to the city centre.

The woman has been reported as stopping shoppers and telling them she has lost her handbag, and needs money to get home.

She then tells them she works for a local florist, and they can collect the money from her there the next day, but she does not work there.

Inspector Pete Sparrow said: "It is sad to see greed abusing the trust of kind members of the public.

"We really need your help to identify her and resolve this matter quickly.

"If you are approached by anyone in such circumstances, please direct them to the police station where we would love to help them."
