IT was a very busy weekend for Salisbury Tri Club with athletes racing in Weymouth, Rotterdam, Newent and Newbury.

Forest Paget placed second in age group at the Newent Triathlon. This was a sprint distance event, consisting of a 400m swim, 18km bike and 4k run, in which Forest gave a superb performance and finished in a time of 1:03, coming 21st overall.

Overseas, Joanne Bailey wore the Team GB kit in the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final, Rotterdam. Representing Great Britain in the Olympic distance event, Joanne crossed the line in 2:31, finishing sixth in her age group.

Back home in British shores, braving the Jurassic coastline for the Ironman Weymouth 70.3. Nigel Peterson, Adam Cain, Belinda Vohra and Chris Cox all raced in the testing event featuring a 1.9km swim start that wasn’t as calm as it first appeared and a 56 mile bike course.

The half marathon run to finish was well supported.

Nigel Peterson was the first to cross the line, with a fantastic time of 5:28. Adam Cain finished his second half Ironman distance in 5:38. Christina Cox competing in her second finished in 6:50. Belinda Vohra completed the challenging course in 7:32, a personal best time.

Additionally STC Cyclocross team, of Dave West, Irfon Thomas, Barry Davis, Dan and Bridget Colloby competed in the first round of the Wessex League at Newbury RC. The team braved the muddy and brutal course and scored well on the leaderboard.
